Yesterday morning was a golf lesson with my personal trainer, Jo. It wasn't a good day at the driving range as I had a hard time making contact with the ball. Its like everything I learned the past 6 weeks or so just went out the window. My form was just terrible, and I kept having to be corrected. It was hot outside and I was getting pretty frustrated to say the least. I hate regressing, especially when I thought I was doing so well. Jo could see that I was getting pretty frustrated, so she made a simple comment about my shoulder and my elbow. Once I concentrated on that, I started making good contact with the ball again. With only one ball left out of the bucket of 100 balls, I made great contact and sent that ball flying. I always like to end with a good stroke.
Since Corey was out of town at a pool tournament, I decided to go to the pool hall and hit some balls. I have an OB Cues Tour pool tournament coming up this weekend, and I hardly ever play pool anymore. My friend, Heather, was even telling me Friday night that I needed to hit balls. I have my own table at home, but I figured I'd save money and go to the pool hall instead of turning the A/C up high in the house to keep me cool. Well, that was a big mistake. The pool hall was probably hotter and I was sweating like a pig! I was there for a couple of hours last night. I hadn't played any pool for almost 2 months, but everything felt good. I had my iPod on and just hit rack after rack after rack. Its almost like I couldn't miss a ball. I know Click's has big pockets on their 9 foots, but it was great for the ego, thats for sure! I was totally in the zone and it felt great. I don't have big expectations for this weekend, because I know that regular practice is important to finish well in a tournament, but its always good to know that I haven't lost my touch. I haven't lost my stroke. If only I had the firey passion of pool that I used to have a couple of years ago. With that passion, and practice, I could actually be good.
Today I'm reminded that I need to spend more time on the pool table and on the driving range. My back and hamstrings are sore from bending over the table for 2 hours and my forearms are sore from swinging that golf club 200 times. Oy!
